Topic: Increasing cyber security outcomes using automation

Join David Coleman, Lead Solutions Engineer at Rapid7 and Garrett O’Hara, Principal Technical Consultant at Mimecast for an online discussion on how to increase cyber security outcomes by implementing the Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR) solutions and tools.

A significant challenge for many organisations can be the lack of staff to execute operational tasks, including the cybersecurity incident response team being able to detect and respond effectively to all security alerts, and address incidents before they potentially become serious.

Implementing a SOAR solution can accelerate incident identification and response times through orchestrating existing IT Operations and Security tools, and automating the response actions required. Automating and orchestrating mundane and repetitive tasks can also improve security operations efficiencies, and as a result, free up valuable time for tasks of higher importance e.g. Phishing Analysis. Telemetry from email security software can be used to trigger SOAR workflows, which can then orchestrate investigation and response actions utlising other tools.
