What to expect at this year's conference

Spotlight on speaker's

B

ruce Schneier

will talk about his favourite topic and one he has been working on a lot lately: the security of the ‘Internet of Things’ and more generally cyber physical systems (CPS). Examples of CPS include smart grid, mining automation, autonomous automobile systems, medical monitoring, process control systems, robotics systems, and automatic pilot avionics to name a few. This promises to be a very interesting session as Bruce expands on his view that across the globe we are using these technologies in varying maturities. Bruce also questions why we have to order threats into ‘greatest’ order? And what criteria should we use? Bruce’s session will be on day 2 of the conference (Thursday 20 October).

Exclusive: we will give away a signed copy of Bruce’s book ‘Data and Goliath’ to the first 400 members  who sign up for the AISA National Conference. Bruce will also be signing books for an hour and a half over lunch in the AISA lounge on day 2(Thursday 20 October) of the conference.

David Lacey was deeply involved in creating and editing the body of knowledge behind the ISO 27000 family of standards. He is often referred to as the ‘father’ of ISO27K. David will speak about why Cyber security has failed. Most security professionals now acknowledge this fact. The key questions are why it has failed, and how can it be fixed. As the creator of the original text behind ISO 27000, David believes he has the answers to both of these questions.
