Diversity at AISA

25 July 2016

Challenging gender stereotypes and bias, recruitment barriers for women and disincentives reducing the attraction of more female talent in the information security sector are issues that were highlighted at our recent Diversity at AISA lunch, hosted by KPMG.

This was the first of a new series of events focusing on women in IT security. The event was well received with over 99 men and women in attendance.

Participants enjoyed a complimentary lunch followed by thought-provoking speeches from Yvette Lejins, IT Security and Risk Manager at Asciano and Joys Tandian, Chief Security Officer at Allianz. The event was hosted at KPMG's new headquarters in Barangaroo, and supported by Tripwire, FireEye and the Australian Women in Security Network.

The speakers also drew attention to the need to support young ladies during their early education to study science technology engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects and build a pathway to a career in IT security.

The second in the Diversity at AISA event series is planned for Sydney in October, hosted by Commonwealth Bank Australia, to coincide with AISA’s upcoming National Conference. To register your attendance at the next diversity lunch please visit the event page on the AISA website
