MENTORING PROGRAM

The NSW Cyber Business Exchange’s Mentor Program is a Cyber Hub (Investment NSW) initiative, led and delivered by the Australian Information Security Association (AISA). It provides knowledge, guidance and advice to ambitious individuals within the information and cyber security industry, allowing them to advance and grow their career and achieve their goals, or to advance their start-up, scaleup or SME business.

Throughout the program, Mentors will hold the Mentees accountable, providing unique access to their professional experience, presenting them with challenging ideas and new ways of thinking. Mentors will inspire the Mentee by providing direction, wisdom, encouragement and constructive feedback.

The Program operates within a structured mentoring and peer collaboration framework to deliver agreed outcomes for each participant.

MATCHING MENTORS AND MENTEES

The program is focused on a Mentor-Mentee relationship that is driven by the Mentee. Mentors are drawn from AISA’s extensive network of experts, who generously volunteer their time and energy to the Program. They are matched with Mentees based on pertinent business skills and experience, enabling Mentees to receive relevant advice and perspective.

Prior to formal program commencement, a detailed matching process is undertaken to ensure Mentor-Mentee compatibility. There is an intense focus on applicable Mentor experience and skillsets, to drive Mentee goals and the aims of any supporting employers.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

Once accepted, based on detailed analysis of a Mentee’s Expression of Interest, the Mentor Program will involve:

  • Matching Mentees with an experienced Mentor whose skillset meets expressed goals
  • A formal induction process
  • Regular meetings over a six-month period (comprising of 12-24 hours of mentoring)
  • Regular reviews of progress via mandatory reports
  • Evaluation of program outcomes at completion

Each fortnight, Mentees and Mentors will meet one-on-one for 1-2 hours (as mutually agreed) over a period of six months. These meetings are supported and supplemented by regular contact with the Program Manager to ensure milestones are being met and the program is working for both parties.
