Digital Innovation Festival 2019 Opening

Join us as we kick of DIF2019 with a live ethical hacking demonstration!

Date: Friday 23 August 2019

Time: 8:30am - 9:30am
Registrations from 8:15am

Venue: Victorian Investment Centre
Level 46, 55 Collins Street, Melbourne VIC 3000

Overlooking Melbourne's skyline from the 46th floor provides a fresh perspective as we kick of this year's festival.

Hackers are a scary bunch – they have the knowledge and the power to access your most precious data. If hackers want to target a particular company, for example, they can find vast amounts of information on that company just by searching the web. They can then use that info to exploit weaknesses in the company’s security, which in turn puts the data you’ve entrusted to that company in jeopardy.

Think of your home computer as a company. What can you do to protect it against cybercriminals? Instead of sitting back and waiting to get infected, why not arm yourself and fight back?

In this interactive session, we will demonstrate on how to hack a web application and take over the server (i.e. "owning it"). Despite this being a live hacking demonstration, rest assured that they will not hack your phone! Instead of doing those unethical things, Wayne Ronaldson will share his experiences in being a cybersecurity consultant and tips on how to be cyber secure.
