Brisbane Branch Meeting - February 19

Brisbane Branch Meeting
Join us at the AISA Brisbane Branch for the first meeting of 2020! Our guest speaker is Craig Tidmarsh who will present on Threat intelligence and the MITRE ATT&CK Framework

Topic: Threat Intelligence and the MITRE ATT&CK Framework

Do you know what to do if you had a Cyber Security Incident? Would you be able to predict it? The challenges of threat defenders and incident responders continue to grow as today's adversaries are able to achieve their aims using increasingly advanced tools and techniques. How do our defenders develop and grow their tool-kits? How can one effectively utilise threat intelligence to help combat the changing threat landscape? Cyber threat intelligence also provides defenders an added advantage, using information superiority to prepare for, recognise and respond when an incident happens.

MITRE ATT&CK is a globally-accessible knowledge base of adversary tactics and techniques based on real-world observations. The ATT&CK knowledge base is used as a foundation for the development of specific threat models and methodologies in the private sector, in government, and in the cybersecurity product and service community.

This presentation will attempt to explain how the MITRE ATT&CK framework can assist organisations to manage cyber risk better and plan what data needs to be available for when the time comes for cyberthreat detection, or investigating a security incident.

Speakers: Craig Tidmarsh

Craig is an information security professional with over 15 years of experience across industries including Financial Service and Telecommunications. During this time he has undertaken a wide range of cyber security roles including digital forensics, incident response, insider threat investigations, threat intelligence, focusing on information sharing and community enablement with a view of building a more robust and resilient digital economy.

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the speakers at the end of the presentation.

Light refreshments will be served before the presentation.
