Topic 1: Why are businesses so bad at keeping personal information secure?

Personal information being lifted from business is a daily occurrence in the media, a few thousand credit card details here, a few million names, addresses and telephone numbers there. Hackers are having a field day at our collective expense. In this presentation I will go into what I reckon is why this came about and is ongoing and what you can do about it.

Speaker: Keith Marlow – Director, Aykira

 Keith has been involved in online security since 1997 and has an in depth understanding of website architecture and how to create services that are reliable, scalable and secure. He is passionate about privacy and the correct handling of sensitive personal information. Keith is a full member of the ACS, BCS and AISA and is CISSP certified.

Topic 2: Security Operations on a budget - Board and Senior Management Engagement

How can we as security professionals engage and educate the Board / Senior Management to help increase security awareness and funding for affordable security operations, methods, and tools.

Speaker: Mikhail Lopushanski - Chief Security Officer, Australian Prudential Regulation Authority

Mikhail Lopushanski is the Chief Security Officer for the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA). His team looks after privacy, information, personnel and physical security, information management, digital services and ensuring the incorporation of security and information governance across APRA. Prior to joining APRA, he managed information security, business continuity, risk management, audit, corporate strategy and governance for a large shared service, as well as ran his own consulting business

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the speakers at the end of the presentation.
