Hosted by the AISA Sydney Branch, please join our international guest speakers Teuta Hyseni, Senior Security Engineer at Microsoft, Nancy Gariché, Senior Cybersecurity Analyst at the Canadian Federal Government and Vandana Verma Sehgal, Vice Chairperson at OWASP for an online panel discussion on the shift left security principles within application security. 

Our panellists will discuss the role of risk, DevSecOps and AI/ML in early software development practices and integrating it into the development lifecycle. As well as explore the benefits, struggles and best practices for shifting security left to its earliest possible point in the process.

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions. This webinar will be recorded and the recording will be made available to registrants.

Speakers:
Teuta Hyseni - Senior Security Engineer, Microsoft
Teuta is a Security Engineer at Microsoft. Ms. Hyseni started her career as a Software Engineer at Rackspace, then moved to Denim Group where she began working on the cybersecurity side and became fascinated with it. Teuta is committed to educating others outside the industry on security threats and best practices, maximizing the impact of her security expertise through different talks and mentorship programs. In recognition of her efforts, she was Security Champion of the Year finalist in 2018 at the Women in IT Awards. As part of her passion for the tech industry and innovation, Teuta and her mentees won first place in the World Blockchain Hackathon at the Blockchain Economic Forum in 2018. She is also the contributing author of “Tribe of Hackers”. 

Nancy Gariché - Senior Cybersecurity Analyst, Canadian Federal Government 
In the early 2000s, Nancy joined the Canadian federal government as a computer science CO-OP student and never left. In 2009, she moved to Ottawa from Montreal, her beloved hometown, to land her first IT security job as a security analyst. This multi-hatted role gave her the opportunity to take on duties in multiple disciplines ranging from incident handling, to project and risk management. Involved in her local infosec community, she aspires to welcome and empower a new generation of industry professionals into the workforce. She is currently leading her federal Department’s Security Assessment and Authorization Program and she is the founder of BDB Skills, a community that helps cybersecurity professionals and enthusiasts obtain the skills and certifications required to kickstart or level up their career. Nancy is also the co-leader of the OWASP DevSlop project.


Vandana Verma Sehgal - Vice Chairperson, OWASP

Vandana is a seasoned security professional with current focus on DevSecOps. In her previous experience, she has dealt with Application security, Vulnerability management, SOC, Infrastructure security and Cloud Security. She is a seasoned speaker and trainer and presented at various public events. She also works in various communities towards diversity initiatives InfosecGirls, WoSec and null. Vandana is a member of the Black Hat Asia Review Board as well as multiple other conferences including Grace Hopper India, OWASP AppSec USA to name a few. She is also one of the organiser of BSides Delhi. She has been the recipient of multiple prestigious awards like Cyber Security Woman of the Year Award 2020 by Cyber Sec Awards, Application Security Influencer 2020 by Whitesource, Global cybersecurity influencer among IFSEC Global’s “Top Influencers inSecurity and Fire” Category for 2019, Cybersecurity Women of the year award by Women Cyberjutsu Society in the Category “Secure Coder”. She has also been listed as one of the top women leaders in this field of technology and cybersecurity in India by Instasafe.
