October meeting wrap

31 October 2016

Committee update:

The AISA Brisbane branch committee is sad to be losing one of its team members, Reece Stewart, who has moved to Sydney for a new role. Reece has long been a supporter of the information security community in Brisbane and has been on the AISA Brisbane branch committee since 2015. Reece was also a valued member of the BrisSEC organising committee in both 2014 and 2015. The Brisbane branch wish him well for his new endeavours and hope he stays in touch.

BrisSEC17:

The plans for BrisSEC17 are coming along well, there is a new logo for the 2017 security day and the theme for #BrisSEC17 is 'Ubiquitous security'. Lani Refiti and Dan Cox who work primarily in a subcommittee of the branch for BrisSEC management are working with AISA’s event manager, Tory Lane to ensure that BrisSEC17 will be even better than the previous iterations.

AISA National Conference 2016:

The Brisbane branch of AISA congratulates CEO Arno, and AISA National staff Tory, Sandra, Ellice and all volunteers on an excellent conference. The branch also extends congratulations to all the award winners

Next Branch Meeting:

The Brisbane branch committee encourages members to attend the AISA National Conference, so will not be holding a local branch meeting this month. The next branch meeting will be on 30 November and feature Mr Dave Jarvis speaking on the profile of Cyber Attack. Make sure you register for that as spots are limited.

Memo:

AISA Brisbane branch is very proud of AISA CEO Arno Brok for his contribution to the new Cyber Security Guide, and encourages all AISA members to read the material.

We want to ensure that we continue to develop as a branch and encourage feedback from members. Please note that not all suggestions can be implemented however we are keen to hear your thoughts. Please send feedback to [email protected].
