April 2017 - Branch Meeting Wrap

19th April 2017

Approximately twenty-five people attended the Brisbane branch meeting for April which was chaired by long-term committee member David Manfield. David thanked venue sponsor BDO, provided local updates and thanked Dan Cox and all volunteers for a successful BrisSEC17.  After mentioning the EGM and stating that AISA will go forward in a positive manner, David discussed the Innovation Stream that he manages for the branch and how this involves making meetings more accessible, introducing workshops, and co-operating with other industry associations.

As part of the diversity initiative, the Brisbane branch aims to be a supportive and inclusive cohort; members are therefore invited to provide quick updates or information at the start of the meetings.  AISA member Chris Schlebusch took the opportunity to tell members about the Queensland government’s Building Information Modelling draft proposal and mentioned that feedback is being sought for this. He explained that the website for more information is https://haveyoursay.dilgp.qld.gov.au/bim

The main presentation was by Leon Mason from Unysis who spoke on Microsegmentation. Leon explained what microsegmentation is, the benefits of using it and how to deploy and manage it. His presentation attracted much interest from the members who asked him several questions at the conclusion of his talk.
