Cyber & Privacy Protection Insurance – An Overview
In this month’s presentation, Mark Luckin and Andrew Wait will provide an overview of cyber/privacy protection insurance policies and market/insurer developments, with a focus on:
• Risk Overview – General risks associated with business and their cyber and privacy exposures. This will include identifying potential root causes, consequences along with risk prevention and mitigation strategies.
• Policy overview – Characteristics including operative clauses/excess/limits/exclusions and the importance of bespoke wordings in relation to business and industry types. This includes an overview of the leading Australian insurers and a comparison of the Australian market to US and UK counterparts.
• Applicable business practices – What businesses can do to make themselves a more attractive risk to insurers, i.e. business continuity and disaster recovery plans, arrangements with third party providers, staff practices and procedures etc.
Speaker 1: Mark Luckin, Financial Lines specialist for Lockton Companies Australia.
Mark has been involved in the placement and management of some of Lockton’s largest Public and Private clients’ Cyber & Privacy Liability, Directors and Officers Liability, Professional Indemnity, and Statutory Liability insurance programs. Previously Mark has spent time working with a number of commercial Law Firms and Perth based Barristers.
Speaker 2: Andrew Wait, Chief Risk and Operations Officer for Lockton Australia.
Andrew has also worked in various risk management roles for over twenty years in the insurance, healthcare and energy industries. In relation to cyber and privacy risk, his focus is on building risk prevention, mitigation and recovery strategies that pre-curses and complements the insurance solution, along with assisting clients to understand their cyber risk and consequences .
