Topic: At this event we will discuss mandatory data breach notification in order to better understand its impact on business and on security risk assessment professional services.

Mandatory Data Breach Notification is a proposed amendment to the Privacy Act (Cth) and the draft legislation was released early this year with public comment closing in March.  As part of this process, AISA surveyed members and put in a response.  The legislation would have wide ranging impact, and defines key criteria for risk and damage affecting security risk compliance and governance.  To follow on from the earlier AISA analysis of the legislation from Baker McKenzie, and AISA's input to the public comment, we are organising this session for a local discussion of the value of Mandatory data Breach Notification.  Jodie Siganto will lead with a summary of the AISA comment, to seed the discussion.

Opening the event: Ms Jodie Siganto

Jodie Siganto is a leading authority on privacy legislation in Australia and is active in the national AISA organisation.  She is the managing director of IT Security Training Australia.  She graduated as a lawyer in 1984 and after 8 years in private practice took the position of in-house counsel for Tandem Computers followed by roles with Unisys Asia and Dell based in Singapore. She returned to Australia in 2000, establishing Bridge Point Communications (specialists in data networking and security) with two other colleagues, her role including among other things responsibility for information security training. In 2008, Jodie left Bridge Point to focus on the training business.
