AISA WA Branch Meeting | 14 May 2024

AISA Branch Meeting
Hosted by the AISA WA Branch, please join us for a face-to-face meeting and networking opportunity with a live and interactive presentation that will explore effective leadership in MSSP with Shaun Barnett, Manager of Cyber Security, Ever Nimble.

Topic: It's time to put your people first: Leading a cyber security team in a MSSP
In cyber security, leading a team within a Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) demands prioritising people over processes. This session explores effective leadership in this specialised field, covering MSP/MSSP distinctions, leadership vs management, and the psychological aspects of leadership behaviour.

We emphasise the importance of team well-being and avoiding the "promotion trap" that can lead to micromanagement. Unique stressors in cybersecurity teams are analysed alongside strategies for mitigation. Understanding team personalities is vital for effective leadership. By recognising and embracing differences, leaders can optimise team performance. We'll also discuss personal growth strategies in the fast-paced MSSP landscape.

Designed for professionals leading or aspiring to lead throughout their career, this session offers actionable insights to foster team success and personal development in the dynamic industries of cyber and IT.

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of the speaker after the presentation at which time light refreshments will be served.

Speaker:

Shaun Barnett is the Manager of Cyber Security at Ever Nimble, a leading Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP), where he oversees strategic cyber advisory initiatives.
