Cloud Branch Webinar - 10 September

Cloud Branch Meeting
Join us at the Cloud Branch for an online webinar on VxWorks vulnerabilities with guest speaker Kevin Manderson

VxWorks Vulnerabilities
VxWorks is a real-time operating system (RTOS) that can be used in embedded systems. VxWorks can be customised easily and can run on most processors designed for distributed computing. VxWorks is used to control network and communication devices, test and measurement equipment, computer peripherals, automotive systems, avionics equipment and diverse consumer products.

VxWorks is used in an estimated 2 billion devices around the world, defence, medical, aviation, industrial, transport, communications equipment and the list goes on.

A few weeks ago researchers announced a number of vulnerabilities in VxWorks, with some allowing remote code execution.  Kevin Manderson will discuss what the vulnerabilities are and what the consequences, impact and timing are likely to be before we see exploits.

Speaker: Kevin Manderson
Kevin Manderson commenced his career in Defence communications and computers in the 1970s. Since that time he has worked for software companies, multinationals, founded his own business and sold two info security startups, managed Operational Technology and Security team for power generators. In his spare time he conducts information security research, tends a fruit and garden and is restoring an 1830s stone house in Hobart with his wife.

At the end of the presentation, there will be an opportunity for participants to ask questions via the Q&A chat box for the speaker.
