Topic: Verifying Compliance with Business Policy through Data

This joint IIA Australia / ISACA Sydney Chapyer members' meeting will be addressed by Elias Machalias and Johan Pelser who together will present an interesting session on verifying compliance with business policy through data.

Typically compliance is verified by measuring the alignment between policies, procedures, actual business practices and an audited sample of transactional data held in supporting business systems. This approach is useful in identifying significant gaps in controls and highlighting areas for further investigation, however it can be disadvantaged by its ad-hoc nature and reliance on extrapolation of findings to form an overall view.
