From organisational wide strategies down to individual systems and operations, information security related standards (in many case multiple such standards) exist.

Compliance with these standards can be often targeted, however regularly the decision to do so is based on a questionable approach, with the actual security benefit often not what was anticipated.

In this month's AISA presentation, Aaron Doggett will discuss the role that standards often play in organisations and the role that they could be playing to increase security benefits.
