Data Breach Notification (MDBN) in Australia - It's Coming!
Our first meeting for the new year will cover:
- Current Disclosure Obligations in Australia: Corporations Act,
ASX Listing Rules and Common Law
- Background to introduction of Data Breach Laws in U.S.
- Review of the operation and impact of U.S. MDBN Laws
- EU Approach to Data Breach Notification
- Australian Law Reform Commission's Recommendations for MDBN
Law
- Future of MDBN Laws in Australia
Speaker: Jodie
Siganto, LLM, CISSP
Jodie graduated as a lawyer in 1984 and after 8 years in private
practice became in-house counsel for Tandem Computers followed by
roles with Unisys Asia and Dell based in Singapore. She returned to
Australia in 2000, establishing Bridge Point Communications
(specialists in data networking and security) with two other
colleagues.
She is currently a director of IT Security Training Australia,
an (ISC)² educational affiliate, specialising in the delivery and
development of IT security and network related training courses
around Australia. In addition, Jodie is currently completing a PhD
at QUT in Information Security Law.
Jodie is a long standing and very active AISA member. She
currently serves as the Brisbane representative for the AISA ISMS
Users Group committee, and regularly helps as a mentor for AISA
CISSP Study Groups in Brisbane.
