Topic: Government Department Merger from a
Security Perspective
Mergers and acquisitions are a common occurrence in both private
and public sectors. However, the recent merger of Medicare
Australia, Child Support Program, Commonwealth Rehabilitation
Service and Centrelink to make the Department of Human Services was
never going to be easy. In this presentation, Nigel will highlight
some of the issues and lessons learnt from participation in this
merger.
Presenter: Nigel Cox
Nigel has been a member of the AISA Canberra Committee since
early 2009, and an AISA member since 2006.
He is currently Operations Manager, Security IT Services at the
Department of Human Services, and has worked at this Department in
its current form and its former guise as Centrelink since 1997.
Prior to that he worked in Security at the Department of Veteran
Affairs and the Department of Administrative Services, and in
Mainframe Software and Operations roles at Ampol and Xerox.
Many thanks to our Sponsor: AISA thanks Tier-3
for their sponsorship of this meeting.
