Topic: Defence Case Study: Achieving Secure Collaboration and Information Sharing

Securely sharing information and collaborating on activities within a "Need to Know" environment is a complex task. Learn how a range of COTS solutions have been integrated together to provide an Attribute Based Access Control (ABAC) system for a highly classified information environment within the Department of Defence. ABAC allows for highly scalable secure computing as it focuses on policy enforcement based on the attributes of people, systems and information rather than a membership structure. In this session, Bruce will discuss how they have achieved a major step towards the holy grail of multi-level security and a significantly higher level of security for the protection and sharing of differing levels of classified or sensitive information.

Presenter: Bruce Talbot, BSTTech Consulting

Bruce has over 30 years in the IT industry involving systems management, application development, security management and communications management. These include with a variety of private sector organisations, Airservices Australia, Australian Federal Police and over 6 years managing the secure computing facilities and applications within the Department of Defence (Defence Signals Directorate), and over 6 years experience as a Project Manager for the delivery of Applications and Communications-Electronic Systems for the RAAF.
