Privacy Law Compliance - Changes to the Law and Emerging Risks
Starts: Wednesday 24 March 2010, 5:00PM
Finishes: Wednesday 24 March 2010, 7:00PM
Venue: BDO, Level 15, HSBC Building, 300 Queen
Street, Brisbane Qld 4000
Topic: Privacy Law Compliance - Changes to the
Law and Emerging Risks
Privacy obligations are sometimes overlooked or neglected by
busy government agencies and businesses with other priorities,
particularly given the vast array of other laws with which
those organisations need to comply. However, privacy law is in
the process of undergoing significant reform, resulting in
both new requirements which will have to be met and
potentially more severe consequences for non-compliance. For
these reasons, it is now timely for organisations to come to
grips with the new privacy landscape and re-examine the extent
of organisational compliance with privacy regulation. In this
seminar, Philip Vickery and Toby Boys from Holding Redlich
Lawyers will examine some of the major recent developments and
proposed reforms in privacy law and highlight some of the key
emerging areas of risk of which Information Security
professionals, IT Managers, auditors and management should be
aware.
Their presentation will be followed by an open brainstorm
session on the impact of these changes on the Information
Security and IT environment.
